Easy nine hour KLM/Delta flight. Took the train to Amsterdam Central.
BIKES EVERYWHERE!!
We are staying in the black canal boat on the right. It is on Bloemgracht Canal. Met by the owner Jaap and his 3 year old son James. They brought us some Stroopwafels(yummy cookies) and a nice bottle of wine. James is ADORABLE! He was telling us (in Dutch) all about the cookies, the heater, the shampoo and body wash in the bathroom, and pointing out all the boat’s features. Perfect central location across the canal bridge from the Ann Frank House
Tired/Not Tired…decided to walk a bit in the neighborhood and find lunch.
“Don’t want to interrupt scratching behind my ears for a photo op!:(“
Westerkerk is the largest Protestant Church in the Netherlands, built in the 1630’s and our neighborhood church. The bell tower chimes every 15 minutes…I love it. Rembrandt is buried on its grounds and HM Queen Beatrix and German’s Prince Claus von Amsberg got married here in 1966. It is our visible landmark so we can find our way home.
So happy to see blooming tulips in January!
