Feb 8 – We got up at 4:30 in the morning so we would be ready for a driver to pick us up for a sunrise balloon ride over the Serengeti. It did not disappoint. It was SOO quiet!
Sunrise on the Serengeti!

What a view! The pilot varied the height of the balloon several times so we could see some animals close up and lift up for a panorama. We saw a flock of ostriches, two male lions, rabbits, storks, countless gazelles, gnus, hyenas, and zebras. My favorite part was listening and seeing the wildebeast (gnu) migration from overhead. The perspective allowed us to see the vast enormity of the Great Migration.
Here is one of Dick’s shots!

Our balloon pilot’s name is Abeid Sola and Godlisten told us he is the Chief Pilot. He gave us a great ride and toasted champagne with us when we landed.
They served us a delicious English breakfast on the Serengeti complete with china, crystal, and silverware.

Such a fabulous experience to add to our already perfect wildlife tour. Now, back to our group for another day of surprise wildlife encounters!
