Vagabond Hearts

woke up this morning….

Devil’s Tower aka “Bear Lodge” in WY

View from our camp site

The campground is adjacent to National Park land.  There was a small creek and a red rock cliff bordering the site.

We went up to the Visitors Center and took the trail that encircles the Tower with a variety of changing views.  Here are a couple of guys free climbing.

The Park Ranger said a record for free climbing was set by a solo climber recently.  It took him 18 minutes!

Climbing is off limits for the month of June.  This is the month for Native American tributes and ceremony.  Considered a sacred place many come to tie prayer flags on trees and show respect for their spiritual customs.    One of the names the Native Americans call the monument is “Bear Lodge”.

It is a spiritual place..
